* This meditation has saved my life …

Feedback from a man in New Jersey whose wife is undergoing a great disturbance due to change in the dosage of medication for her Bipolar problem (1). They have a 7 year old daughter. He was under great stress due to this situation.

” Your meditation technique has saved my life. It has helped me survive the crisis I have been going through.”

He explained that he was practicing the technique at night and other times, due to which he was able to withstand the severe stress.

(1) Husband and wife living are living in New Jersey. The husband found this web site when he searched on the internet for a solution to his unbearable stress. He contacted me by phone from the contact information in the web site. To start with, I am guiding him with phone support while he is practicing based on the documents in this web site. Once he gains confidence in the practices, hopefully he can train his wife.

* I became so content and relaxed

I gave the hand outs (1) to a patient of my daughter Padma Sripada a few months back. Today I met her and came to know she was happy with the the technique. On my request she wrote out the following testimonial:

“I had a lot of anxiety, stress and sleeping disorder. Sometimes, my body would shake and I would cry for no reason.  I was introduced to the ‘Focusing on breathing’ technique (1) when I came to Dr. Sripada’s office. The first day I tried it,   I suddenly became so content and relaxed. My sleep has become a lot better and I am more focused. It has allowed me to not have to use my sleeping medicine every night. It is great!

I will refer this technique to my family and friends to see how many people will agree with me. You can practice this technique when you are just sitting around or when you are walking or jogging. Trust me it will make a difference in your life.”

* Able to sleep without drinking beer

A woman’s feedback about her ex-husband
“I have been practicing the  ‘Focusing on breathing’ technique (1) since last 6 months. I have experienced many positive changes including losing my excess weight. Many people who knew me before, including my mom, noticed these visible changes and commented about it. One such person is my ex-husband whom I meet often, as we share custody of our 2 children. Recently my ex commented on how I looked happier and more focused. He asked what was behind this change. I told him about the technique and gave the two hand outs – one for quality sleep (2) and another, containing the comprehensive guidance about the technique.

My ex is a night shift worker and had difficulty sleeping during the day. He also has some heart problems. Against the advice of his heart doctor, he was drinking beer to be able to sleep.

He read the hand outs on the ‘Focusing on breathing’ technique and practiced it since last two weeks. Two days back, he said that he was no longer dependent on beer to get sleep and drinks only occasionally.”

* Reduced my anger, road rage ….

Received this feedback from a NY state employee who has a busy and stressful customer service job. He attended a few of my classes in May 2010.

My practices (See ref (1) for the different modes of ‘focusing on breathing’)
I practice the ‘Tip mode’ or ‘Segment mode’ to get sleep while in the bed and when I wake up during the night or in the morning and need to fall back asleep.

I practice the ‘Counting mode’ while driving or walking during the day.

I practice the ‘911 mode’ when I recognize I am getting stressed, frustrated, worked up or pent up with anger or frustration.

The benefits  I gained
These practices have improved my self control and reduced my anger. They have increased my tolerance for things out of my control. They have improved my health. I can feel the difference. I don’t have anxiety or chest pains or tightening, like I had before or nearly as frequently as before.  They have reduced my road rage. There is improvement in how I react with or accept other drivers. I have improved my tolerance and anger for mistakes and towards the “general public”. They have helped me in my job and career. I think before I react which has helped me deal with “difficult customers”.

I just have to work on making it more of a routine so that I don’t have to think about it. I don’t do it as much as I should or need to!!

I really like your Rope/Snake story (2) that you told me in the class. I just found that on the website.

I can’t thank you enough. You have helped me tremendously.

* No more Insomnia

Feedback from an Ophthalmologist M.D I was meeting with. I gave him my handouts (1). He said he would try out the technique. After some time, whenever I visited him he used to tell me he liked it as it was helping him fall asleep on difficult days. On my request he sent this testimonial.

“Insomnia is an occasional problem for me, sometimes affecting me for days at a time. Sometimes, I go to sleep easily, but wake up in the middle of the night. Then I can’t fall back to sleep. Other times, I just can’t fall asleep at all. Sleeping pills work, but I don’t really like to take them, and they are definitely not an option to take at 3:00 am if I have to get up at 6:00. I have practiced Mr. Chennapragada’s counting breaths technique (2) for the last two years or so, and have found it to be a very effective way to go to sleep, or get back to sleep. I also occasionally use it to reduce stress, and as suggested in Mr. Chennapragada’s handout. I sometimes use it while sitting at stoplights. I am very thankful to have learned this great technique.”
