Tip mode

Tip Mode - At the tip of the little finger

In this mode, we use finger movements matching  the counting of breaths, to enhance the concentration of the mind on in and out breaths. It is similar to the traditional use of prayer beads while chanting.

Start with any one hand. Touch the tip of the thumb to the tip of the little finger. Count three breaths as explained at (1). Switch the tip of the thumb to the tip of the ring finger and count three breaths. Continue counting three breaths at the tips of the middle finger and index finger. Next, place the tip of the index finger at the base of the thumb and count three breaths. This change in positioning the fingers is to differentiate working at the thumb and index fingers, avoiding confusion and distraction of the mind.

Then switch to the other hand and repeat all the above steps. Continue practicing, switching the hands as long as you like.
