Past introductory seminars

The seminars done at various places in India during 2002 and in USA since 2003, are listed below. ‘Hope Club’ mentioned below refers to the  American Cancer Society’s ‘Hope Club’ at 1 Penny Lane, Latham NY 12110 # 782-9833. Free seminar is offered every last Thursday of the month at this place, subject to registration of at least one person.

2012

  • Columbia Internal Medicine, May 3, 2012: Attended by one woman for grief and depression due to the death of her adult son. 
  • Columbia Internal Medicine, April 28, 2012: Attended by one man for depression.
  • Hope Club, April 26, 2012: Attended by one woman undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer for her insomnia and anxiety.
  • Taborton Zion’s United Church of Christ Adult Fellowship Group: April 18, 2012. Seven people attended, 3 men, 3 women and one child in Grade 8. Feedback.
  • Columbia Internal Medicine: April 16 and 17, 2012. For a couple who attended series of my classes a few years back at the Albany Hindu Temple. The husband is a retired dentist. They came from Charlotte NC on a visit. He saw me at a social function and eagerly asked to meet me to revive his forgotten practice. They attended the sessions on both days and wanted to be in touch by e-mail or phone, even after they go back to India.
  • Columbia Internal Medicine: March 10, 2012. Seminar organized at short notice for a couple who came from New Jersey on a visit to Albany NY. Wife had been suffering from Fibromyalgia for many years. Their local host referred them to me as his 25 year old back pain was 80% relieved with the relaxation and stretching practices he learned in my classes.
  • Edgar Cayce Study Group: Feb 7, 2012. 7 people attended on Feb 7, 2012. Summary of their Feedback
  • East Greenbush Library: Jan 30, 2012. 16 people attended the fifth seminar at this library from 7 to 8.30pm. Summary of the feedback.
  • ‘Hope Club’ Jan 26, 2011: Four men attended. All were soft ware Engineers. The summary of their feedback. One of them sent me this e-mail message the next day.

2011

  • Rensselaer public library: Dec 29,2011. This second seminar at the library was for 1 hour and 15 minutes attended by three women.  Feedback.
  • ‘Hope Club’ October 4, 2011: The seminar was for about 10 kids who either lost a parent to cancer or had a cancer survivor as a family member. Details of the seminar.
  • ‘Hope Club’ September 29, 2011: The seminar of 1 hour was attended by a 70 year old woman. She came to the seminar with the noble intention of helping a friend of 86 years. Her friend was suffering from chronic insomnia , on account of grief from the recent death of her 55 year old son. She wanted to see if ‘Focusing on breathing’ could help her friend sleep at night.  
  • ‘Hope Club’ July 28, 2011: The seminar of one hour was attended by 5 persons. A family of four – husband, wife and their two teen age daughters and one other woman. Feedback.
  • Health and Safety Fair at the GlaxoSmithKline manufaturing plant at Oak Hill 3169 Route 145 East Durham, NY 12423: July 13, 2011. Participated in this fair on invitation of the Occupational Health Nurse of the plant, who herself practices this technique and recommends to the employees. About 25 employees who visited my booth at the fair were introduced to this technique, by handing over several related documents with brief explanation and a few demos. Short seminars will be offered to the employees shortly. Appreciation letter.
  • ‘Hope Club ‘ June 6, 2011: Introductory seminar of about 45 minutes was done for cancer survivors and family members. 7 women and 1 man attended. Feedback from the participants
  • Columbia Internal Medicine: June 2011. One person for stress at office.
  • Rensselaer Public Library, May 26, 2011: Introductory seminar on ‘Stress management” was held, attended by 5 women and 2 girls of 10 to 12 years.  It covered the ‘Focusing on breathing’ technique in detail and ‘Analyzing negative/ stressful thoughts’ and ‘Stretching with breathing’ briefly. The participants enjoyed the session. Written feedback was not collected due to shortage of time.
  • East Greenbush Community Library, May 4, 2011: The fourth introductory seminar at this library was attended by 19 adults (12 women and 7 men).  Feedback from the participants.
  • Albany Hindu Temple, March 2011: Introductory seminar of 15 minutes for about 50 Grade 6 students of Loudonville elementary school in  at the Albany Hindu Temple when they visited the temple for an introduction to Hindu religion.  Each student was given a copy of my 2 page hand out “‘Calm yourself anywhere, anytime by ‘Focusing on breathing’” to carry home.
  • Columbia Internal Medicine: Feb 2011. One person.
  • Columbia Internal Medicine: Jan 2011. One person for anxiety, insomnia, stiff neck and shoulder.

2010

  • Pregnant women: Introductory seminar of 30 minutes for two expectant women along with their partners. This was done on the request of their Certified Birth Instructor Emily Marynczak who has been conducting series of classes for them.
  • Albany Hindu Temple: October 2010. Kid 10 year old.
  • 4th Goodman Diabetic Fair: May 2010.Introductory  seminar of 45 minutes was conducted as part of the  at the Diabetic Fair organized every year by Albany Medical College. This was the second year of this seminar. It was one of the break out sessions attended by 22 visitors to the fair. Feedback summary
  • Loudonville Elementary School: March 26 2010 .An introductory seminar of one hour was conducted for 24 teaching staff of the  on the request of the principal Kerry Flynn. Most of the participants practiced the relaxation lying on the floor for about 20 minutes. Feedback summary
  • Albany Hindu Temple: April 2010. A couple for ‘Infertility treatment’ failures.

2009

2006

  • Albany Hindu Temple: 6 Women and 7 men covered in Feb and Mar 2006.

2005

  • East Greenbush Community Library: September 10, 2005. The second seminar at this library was attended by eight women and two men.
  • Albany  Hindu Temple: August 2005. Summer camp for 27 Children .They were trained in this technique over 4 days in 30 minute sessions.
  • Albany Hindu Temple: Oct 2005. Nine adults were trained.
  • Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC): Feb 2005. Second Lunch time seminar for 20 participants.

2004

  • East Greenbush Community Library: June 9, 2004. The first seminar at this library was attended by ten participants.
  • Department of Transportation (DOT): April 2004. Lunch time seminar was held for  21 adults.
  • Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC):July 2004. Lunch time seminar was held for 21 people.
  • Albany Hindu Temple: April 2004. Five participants were trained.
  • Albany Hindu Temple: August 2004. Nine people were trained.
  • Robert C. parker School: Jan 2004. Four staff members were trained.
  • Albany Hindu Temple: August 2004. Youth camp. 42 children were trained over 3 days in 30 minute sessions.
  • Physical Therapy and Wellness Solutions at Columbia Plaza: Six persons were trained.
  • Capital District YMCA in East Greenbush NY: Eight persons were trained.
  • Glimpses of India Festival at Empire State Plaza: Eleven persons were trained in Sept 2004
  • Department of Transportation (DOT): April 2004. Forty participants.

2003

  • Family gathering on the eve of Thanksgiving day: 26 adults and 16 teens were trained in the house of Dr. Swatantra Mitta M.D
  • Albany Hindu Temple: November 2003. 30 adults were trained in 3 sessions.

2002

  • South Brunswick Library NJ: Nine participants were trained. This seminar was organized by HumNRI.com.
  • Rotary Club of Bhadrachalam (India): Twelve participants were trained.
  • Bhadrachalam (a town in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh, India, where I tested this method extensively): This was the first year I started sharing the technique with any one willing to listen. A great variety of people were trained from all sections of society in a few minutes to one hour.  Some of them reported very remarkable changes which are described as anecdotes in the page ‘Level I – Helping mind and body’ on the right side. The categories of people covered - Illiterate office helpers, Cleaners, Food servers in the company guest house, a gardener, A launderer, Single families, Members of ladies club, Insurance agents, Memebrs of Rotary club, Electrical technicians, Office clerks, Private secretaries, Technical managers, Staff and workers of small industries, School teachers, Truck drivers and Security guards.

2001

  • Bhadrachalam Paper Boards (Now called ITC PSPD, located in the town Bhadrachalam, State of Andhra Pradesh, India): Two people were trained. These were the first two people after me, to test this technique and offer feedback.
