ABOUT

I am a Mechanical Engineer from India, born 1942. Retired as Deputy General Manger (Engineering)/ Adviser from ITC PSPD, a large paper mill located in the state of Andhra Pradesh, South India. I have been in the USA since 2003. Myself and my wife live in Rensselaer NY state, close to Albany NY with our daughter and grand daughter. Our daughter, Padma Sripada is a Doctor (Internal Medicine) with her own practice in Castleton On Hudson NY.

My nature
My inborn tendency has been to gain a deeper understanding of the phenomena I have to grapple with. I used to ask persistently the question ‘Why?’ during my college and then wherever I worked. I was nick named ‘Dr.’  (Ph.D) or ‘professor’ for this reason. More …

Stupidity is ……        The Never-Fail philosophy……       The first step taken…….       Collecting an ocean of words……. Read in detail…..

How did I get into ‘focusing on breathing’ technique?
I have been reading books on psychology, psychiatry and spirituality from the age of 16. But I did not practice any mind body technique till I was 57. When I was under deep stress at the age of 57, I accidentally (may not be an accident after all!) read a small book about ‘Vipassana’ (a meditation practice) in which ‘Focusing on breathing’ was barely mentioned. Why am I so passionate and obsessed about ‘focusing on breathing’
Well known stress management and relaxation practices, popularly known as meditation and Yoga, demand allotment of time, intense effort and belief. They demand using the body in ways we are not used to. Beginners like me are unable to relate the teacher’s concepts, words and advise to our current thinking, nor create a space in our entrenched daily routine for the new practices. More …

It makes sense to introduce it to children as early as possible
When I introduced this simple practice-lying-on-the-bed-when-you-want-to-sleep technique to adults, more than half of them showed tremendous reluctance. It was apparently disturbing their mental patterns that were moving in deep grooves, though not helping them reduce the distress in their lives. But when I experimentally introduced it to children aged 10 and above, most of them readily accepted it. They simply treated it as one more skill, like reading alphabets or counting numbers. More…

My mission in life
My sole concern is that this unconventional mode of practicing the ‘focusing on breathing’ technique should not vanish from the world, along with me. In view of its great potential in helping people of all ages, in improving the mind, body and relationships, at no cost or demanding allotment of time, I have made it my mission for the rest of my life, to propagate it, as widely as possible. Please join me if you like this simple technique and see its tremendous potential.

I appreciate your patient reading thus far.

‘Suryanarayana Rao Chennapragada’ was my name in India, shortened to ‘C.S.Rao’ or ‘C S’.
It has become ‘Suryanarayana Chennapragada’ or  shortened to ‘C S’ in the USA.
